About Us

Westcliffe House Ltd is a private rehabilitation centre for people with addictions to drugs or alcohol. There is no nursing care. Westcliffe House can cater for 20 residents (both male and female), with an age range of 18-64 years

Who are the staff?

The Manager is Pat Bugler (cert Ed. Dip. Couns. Dip Sup.). Pat has worked in the fields of youth and community, further education and consultancy roles within the private, statutory and voluntary sectors. Pat is supported by 21 (full and part time) members of staff with an array of expertise and experience including a team of qualified therapists, complementary health practitioners, life skill tutors, support staff, administration and office staff and catering personnel. All staff members are suitably qualified for their particular area of work.

What do we offer?

Westcliffe House offers an integrated therapeutic programme with all therapists having gained nationally recognised qualifications. We pride ourselves on the wide variety of models used including Cognitive Analytical Therapy, Transactional Analysis, Art Psychotherapy, Drama Psychotherapy, Integrative Humanistic Approaches, and Neuro-linguistic Programming etc. We are also able to offer clients specialist support in the areas of Eating Disorders, Positive Parenting Groups, Anxiety Management etc and have a Literacy Tutor who works on an individual basis if required.

There is a high staff/client ratio, with a minimum of four senior therapists on each day in order to provide clients with effective care plans which are reviewed on a 4-6 week basis. This has resulted in Westcliffe being able to offer effective specialist groups and individual counselling sessions which have proven to benefit clients in the quality of their recovery.

The programme is a minimum of twenty weeks residential which is divided into three stages – the Alpha, the Omega and the Prep. These are better described elsewhere but indicate the progress of the client through the therapeutic programme.

Upon completion of the residential period, Westcliffe House offers an active After Care Programme with the package being individually designed to meet the client need.

The details of this are fully explored within the Prep (Preparation for leaving group) and formulated with the Client, Referral Agency and the Key Worker from Westcliffe, for some this would include a return to employment, re-training, return to education or voluntary work etc.
