Relapse Prevention Programme

Westcliffe House integrates the Relapse Prevention Programme in all its therapeutic activities. It is considered to be a key aspect of the programme. Listed below is more information on how we structure each programme.

We have identified a number of programmes as part of the Relapse Prevention programme that is undertaken at Westcliffe. All parts of the therapy are geared towards the management of an alcohol/drug free life style.

As a unit we are active in the management of change, whether within the specialist groups, the workshops and the individual counselling sessions. We believe that if the client feels safe enough to explore their issues without fear of reprisal, then the compulsion for the use of drugs/alcohol will lessen. We do not feel that it is beneficial to focus the client purely around their use of drugs of alcohol but rather take the holistic view that there needs to be an active input of therapy, education, health education, complimentary health and other related areas.

To undertake purely a Relapse Prevention group is self defeating as frequently it raises issues focusing the client on past alcohol/drug related behaviours rather than focusing on establishing and maintaining positive life skills and pastimes.
